Biblical Gender Roles

This video is a recording of Josh Whitney's presentation of biblical gender roles. He speaks about multiple different biblical passages that explain what is expected of men and women in marriage. This video shows how diverse interpretations of the Bible can be, and it explores the interpretations of one man, and how he views his role in his marriage. This presentation focuses on gender roles specifically within a marriage between a man and a woman, and the roles God has laid out for husbands and wives in the Bible. One of Whitney's main arguments is that the husband's relationship to his wife should strive to be equivalent to Jesus' relationship with the Church because Jesus' relationship to the Church is the ideal guide for humanity's marital relationships.

"But wisdom is proved right by all her children" - Luke 7:35

Our Questions:
Are the roles of a submissive wife and a godly husband something we should still value in modern society?
How have gender roles advanced from the biblical instructions to modern day?
Why should Whitney's opinion be more valued than other biblical scholars who may disagree? Can each viewpoint be valued the same?
